Case Study

Nan’s SuperValu, Ballymun

This established local business began using the template in early 2008. Management and staff were introduced to the EMS concept and began the environmental auditing process. As part of the new EMS in SuperValu, an in-vessel composter was installed to process all bread, fruit and vegetable waste, which has significantly reduced waste going to landfill and waste disposal costs. Energy monitoring and awareness has also led to considerable savings.

Quote

“We were delighted to get involved with BRL and the environmental management system because our business and our environment will benefit from the work we put into this project. In a time of financial pressure we have to watch our bottom line and as our planet is under pressure we need to reduce our carbon footprint. I hope we can make a difference”.

Robert Murphy, Manager, Nan’s Supervalu. Ballymun.
