The Rediscovery Centre, when complete, will represent a progressive step in recycling centres for Dublin and will function as an integrated centre, incorporating education, resource recovery and recycling facilities.

Material flow at the Rediscovery Centre

The building is specifically designed to encourage visitor best practice in terms of waste prevention, reduction and recycling. The Rediscovery Centre takes visitors through the stages of best waste management. These stages are illustrated below.

Prevention - reducing the amount of waste generated.

The Rediscovery Centre will have visitor amenity sites and an education centre designed to run education and awareeness progreammes to prevent the production of waste.
 

Reuse - the reuse of materials or proudcts

Repair and reuse workshops, swap shops and material exchange facilities will be present in the Rediscovery Centre. This will demonstarte the potential of waste resource and the importance of resource recovery.
 

Recycle - the appropriate recovery of materials

The Rediscovery Centre will have a civic amenitey site for public use which will provide recycling facilities for a wide range of materials.
