BAFTA outfit by Rediscover Fashion

Posted on 18th February 2018

Rediscover Fashion is making an appearance at the BAFTAs 2018! Our CEO, Sarah Miller, is attending the BAFTAs taking place in the Royal Albert Hall in London on Sunday the 18th of February. Sarah is wearing an outfit created and styled by Rediscover Fashion. The aim of this outfit is to highlight the potential of upcycled and second hand formal wear.

The top is provided by Unit K in Sandymount Dublin and it is a pre-loved piece by Irish designer Simone Rocha. The skirt has been upcycled by Rediscover Fashion from an evening dress. The dress was sourced from a charity shop and it was selected for the quality of the fabric.

The Rediscover Fashion team, led by Carrie Ann Moran, wanted to create a piece that could evolve over time to be remade into different pieces for years to come. A design consultation took place and concept sketches were created. In the end it was decided that the skirt had to be high waisted and full length for a formal look. The original dress was deconstructed and under the supervision of Carrie Ann, three trainees, Jenny, Jennifer and Nathalia began the process of giving this dress a new life as a formal wear skirt.

Sarah will walk the red carpet at the Baftas wearing Rediscover Fashion and we will add more photos of the Baftas of the night shortly.
