Waste created by electronics and electronic equipment is the fastest growing waste stream globally, with consumption of this equipment growing by 2.5 million metric tons every year. As consumption increases, so does waste. Given this growing challenge posed by the industry, Metabolic has completed an assessment of the circular electronics landscape for the Responsible Business Alliance. The assessment highlights how the industry can shift towards circularity and ensure that electronics production is environmentally and socially responsible. Metabolic assessed each stage of the circular electronics supply chain by engaging stakeholders via surveys and interviews, and in doing so, identified opportunities and barriers for circular intervention in the industry.
