Tour of the Rediscovery Centre 16th Sept – 21st Sept

Event Description:
Take a guided access all areas tour of Ireland’s National Centre for the Circular Economy and Europe’s only environmental ‘3D Textbook’ building. Visitors of all ages will learn the unique background of the Rediscovery Centre, the history of old Ballymun Boiler House, and the work the centre carries out for the benefit of the community, the circular economy and our planet. A visit to the ‘living laboratory’ will be an engaging experience taking visitors on a journey through understanding sustainability, biodiversity and community action. Encompassing the workshops, outdoor garden, educational features and much more, visitors are guaranteed to come away with a better understanding of environmental care, the circular economy and take away helpful tips for greener living.

Culture Night

Event Description:

Geology Rocks!

Event Description:
The Rediscovery Centre Investigates series offers children the opportunity to explore environmental and STE(A)M topics all within the wonderful surroundings of the Boiler House, Ballymun. Our young investigators will use their super sleuthing skills to get a greater understanding of how the world works through a mixture of hands-on activities, presentations and design.

Each Investigate workshop has its own unique focus and is guaranteed to delight enquiring young minds.

Children who take part in all five workshops will be awarded their very own Certificate of Investigation!

Investigate.2 – Geology: Geology Rocks! During the workshop the young investigators will embark on a journey of discovery of Earth: moving continents and erupting volcanoes, rocks and minerals in our daily life, ancient fossils and how they formed. A mix of presentation, interactive games and hands-on activities will disclose the wonders of our evolving planet.

*Suitable for children aged 6 to 12 years old. Duration: 90 minutes.

*Minimum numbers required

Wine Tasting – Demystifying Organic, Bio-Dynamic and Natural Wines

Event Description:
A wine tasting experience for curious wine lovers. During this informative masterclass we explore the differences between conventional wine making and the natural wine movement. We discover the facts about sustainable wine growing, wild fermentation, organic, bio-dynamic & natural wine.

No experience or previous knowledge about wine is necessary, this workshop is designed to be social, interactive, entertaining and educational. We will also debunk some wine myths surrounding this topical subject.

Do you fancy tasting these type of wines? I will carefully select five lovely wines to showcase how diverse and interesting these styles of wine can be.

I will guide the group though how to taste wine properly, highlighting the difference in aromas & flavours. We will look at production methods & explore the basics of food & wine pairing.

Circular Economy Academy Clinic Cork

Event Description:
This clinic is delivered as an interactive group session which includes a review of the Rediscovery Centre’s social enterprise journey, an introduction to design thinking, Q&A and an opportunity to network with like-minded organisations. Sarah will also explain a number of successful funding models and other support services available for social enterprises. After the group session, one to one meetings with Sarah will be available. These meetings can be booked once you have registered for the clinic.

This workshop will be held at the Tyndall National Institute, Cork, with thanks to our hosts at the International Energy Research Centre.

Investigate.3 – The third workshop of the Investigate series will allow children to investigate the wonders of the universe, the origins of the solar system along with its planets and moons – all without the leaving the comforts of planet Earth! The workshop features fun hands-on activities including simulating meteor impacts and making rockets and space rovers.
