Tours of the Rediscovery Centre – July

Event Description:
Take a guided access all areas tour of Ireland’s National Centre for the Circular Economy and Europe’s only environmental ‘3D Textbook’ building. Visitors of all ages will learn the unique background of the Rediscovery Centre, the history of old Ballymun Boiler House, and the work the centre carries out for the benefit of the community, the circular economy and our planet. A visit to the ‘living laboratory’ will be an engaging experience taking visitors on a journey through understanding sustainability, biodiversity and community action. Encompassing the workshops, outdoor garden, educational features and much more, visitors are guaranteed to come away with a better understanding of environmental care, the circular economy and take away helpful tips for greener living.

Virtual Science Workshop

Event Description:
This online science workshop explores everyday science. It features a range of activities, including how science is part of our lives game, and a variety of hands-on interactive science investigations explore science topics from kitchen science to forces.

Event Description:
Join Joanne McFall for this ceramics workshop that involves using air dry clay of varying colours and textures to make household bowls, plates, candle holders, that are ideal for home decoration. This workshop will use a range of moulds and hand building techniques to create your own ceramics which will be painted, decorated and glazed. All materials and equipment supplied.

Essential Everyday Bicycle Maintenance

Event Description:
Learn to keep your bike running smoothly and safely. Bicycle tyres and brakes need regular maintenance, and doing the maintenance yourself will extend the life of your bike’s components and keep you on the road. Join Mark from Rediscover Cycling to develop these skills.

This class will include:
- Fitting inner tubes
- Inspecting damaged and worn tubes and tyre
- Rebuilding and setting up mechanical brakes from scratch
- Other general maintenance of chains, saddles, and handlebars
- Simplified, take home notes.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own bike to work on so as to learn to maintain their specific parts. If participants are unable to bring their own bike, a bike can be provided – send us an email to bikes@rediscoverycentre.ie with a description of the type of bike you typically use and we can do our best to have something similar for you on the day.

*Minimum numbers required for workshop to take place
*Participants must be 16 years or over
