Fairtrade Coffee and Cocoa Celebration Day

Event Description:
The Rediscovery Centre is hosting a free to attend Fairtrade Coffee and Cocoa Celebration Day on the 29th of February. This day is perfect for the coffee and chocolate lovers of Ireland and it is in association with Fairtrade Fortnight. It will consist of free interactive talks, workshops, food sampling, coffee tasting and more.

As part of this celebration day, the Rediscovery Centre is delighted to welcome Luis Miguel Garcia from the Cooperative of coffee growers of Anserma in Colombia. Luis will be able to show visitors the positive impact that the Fairtrade premium has on their coffee growers and the wider community.

In Ireland we consumed about 7.7kgs of chocolate per person in 2017 (Euromonitor International) which makes us 3rd in the chocoholic rankings in Europe, just behind Austria and Switzerland. What we forget is that all of our purchases are linked to the livelihoods of other human beings. Fairtrade Fornight highlights the importance of purchasing Fairtrade products as it ensures that the products are socially and economically fair and environmentally responsible.

*Admission is free but places are limited.
