The Rediscovery Centre and NCAD have collaborated on a five day Green Business Young Entrepreneurs Bootcamp that took place on the 17th to the 21st of July. The secondary school entrepreneurs were encouraged to develop ideas that would produce innovative and/or environmentally conscious products and services to meet the challenges of the modern world.
The three teams had to demonstrate practical skills to enable individuals, businesses, and organisations to reuse and redesign waste resources instead of sending them to landfill.
The teams had to create a product and at the end of the week present it at a Dragons Den style presentation.
The teams presented to the judges Bobby Kerr (Insomnia & Dragons Den), Dara Connolly (Young Social Innovators), Aideen O’Hora (Sustainable Nation) and Kate Purcell (Obeo)
The final prototypes were presented to the judges. A domestic renewable energy heating system, a storage system that could hold plants, pens and your mobile phone and a healthy food take away where the packaging could be used as a bowl, which could then be fully composted.
The final winners of the Young Entrepreneurs Bootcamp are George, Sean and Ciaran. They developed a domestic sustainable energy system. The system incorporated, wind, solar and the retrofit of old chimneys.
