Arann Murphy, Rediscover Fashion programme manager, spoke to James Beattie from RTE about the Rediscovery Centre’s school uniform repair workshops. These workshops are always a firm favourite with students and parents. These workshops are a lot of fun to host and it gives everyone a chance to ask lots of questions. All of our repair workshops give attendees the confidence and skills needed to reuse and repair. People leave these workshops knowing how to sew a patch, take up a hem, take in a waistband, replace a button and darn a hole. These repair techniques are life-long skills that help to keep uniforms in use for as long as possible and which help parents save money during the school years, not to mention the huge positive impact on the environment.
