The Rediscovery Centre offers school tours for primary schools that are fun, educational and hands-on. Our programme of school tours includes option for 90min workshops and 3 ½ hour workshops, and are tailored to your group’s requirements.
Our educators are trained in the delivery of STEM and environmental education and are Garda vetted. The Rediscovery Centre is an accredited Discover Centre under the Discover Primary Science and Maths programme.
School Tour Options:
Waste Theme
What is waste? How much do we produce? What happens our waste is? The students explore ideas on waste reduction, reuse and recycling, through discussion and interactive activities. Hands-on activities includes making recycled paper, collages and making jewellery from bicycle tubes.
Suitable for Infants to 6th class
Biodiversity Theme
Students will investigate biodiversity and learn about Irish wildlife, habitats, and ecosystems. We will examine food chains, look at animal adaptations through interactive activities and games such as bug hunting, pond dipping and the camouflage game.

Energy Theme
Students investigate energy, types of energy, energy conservation, renewable and non-renewable sources and look at how we use energy. Interactive energy activities including making and testing wind turbines, making solar ovens and making electrical circuits with motors, fans, resistors and alarms.

Water Theme
Students look at the importance of water, properties of water, the water cycle, water use, and water pollution. The students are encouraged to explore human water use and water conservation through discussion and interactive activities. Explore the water cycle using our interactive water exhibit, investigate water pollution and treatment, and make a water filter.

Space Theme
Join The Rediscovery Centre as we venture into outer space. Students will investigate the universe, origins of the solar system, the planets and moons of our solar system and looking at space exploration. The universe out there is anything but ordinary! Hands-on activities include investigating meteor impacts and making rockets
