2024 has so far been an amazing year for our ECCO participants, who have been busy developing innovative reuse and repair projects in their communities.

This work has been supported by tailored training and mentoring from the Rediscovery Centre team, as well as study visits and events with fellow participants.

We have an unbelievable 41 projects in progress across Ballymun, Longford, Limerick and Roscommon!

Highlights from this Spring include:

  • The launch of Ballymun’s Bike library – the first community-led bike library in Ireland
  • Building open community spaces to bring people together
  • DP Centre Garden Redesign and cooking – farm to fork!
  • Design thinking workshops
  • Visits to FoodCloud
  • Repair Cafés
  • Fermentation workshop
  • Seed Swap with Aontas
  • Planting workshops
  • Sewing Club…and much more!

Coming up soon in Ballymun is the next phase of the Ballymun Bike Library, and the Ballymun Food Forum, organised by our participants, which will bring award-winning chef Conor Spacey to our town to share creative ways to cut food waste!

Our community-led climate action initiative ECCO is all about supporting individuals and community groups to kickstart local reuse or repair projects in Ballymun, Longford, Roscommon, and Limerick.
