SoCircular July 2024
Great opportunity to share the Rediscovery Centre’s journey in green and social procurement at the So Circular event in the Guinness Enterprise Centre this morning, hosted by Dublin City Council.
Our Policy & Research Director, Claire Downey, took the stage to highlight best practice examples including tenders with Fingal County Council for community paint reuse, and an award winning tender with the NWCPO for upcycled office furniture. The discussion also covered the unique challenges and opportunities from a social enterprise perspective, including engaging in procurement at small scale and the lack of a strong policy framework for social procurement.
Claire joined a stellar panel featuring Matthew Jackson, Deputy Chief Executive of the Centre for Local Economic Strategies (CLES), and Jim Hargis, Employment Services Manager at St Andrews Resource Centre.
SoCircular is a fantastic initiative showcasing Dublin’s vibrant social economy ecosystem. It features key discussions on social economy themes, showcases local social enterprises and offers great networking opportunities.
