Circular Economy News August
Hello Circular Economy Enthusiasts!
As we step out of August and into Second Hand September, we have a lot to catch up on in the world of circularity.
On our own island, we’ve seen exciting progress by community groups across the country. From the newly launched ‘repair café in a box’, the expansion of community clothing reuse hubs, the first birthday of the Killarney Coffee Cup Project, and the inclusion of repair and reuse initiatives at Dublin Comic Con, it has been a non-stop circular summer!
Further afield, we’ve received some sombre news from international reports on the progress of the Sustainable Development Goals, and the State of the Climate. However, repair had a good month with expanding Fixing Factories in London, and the addition of more appliances to the Austrian repair bonus. The bio-economy also got a boost, with special interest in the repurposing of waste from both olive oil manufacturing and food processing plants.
As usual, we’ve included a list of circular funding opportunities, jobs, events and training opportunities in Ireland and around the world. We’ve also included some news about big changes happening in the Rediscovery Centre, including new job opportunities.
