Today has become notorious for the ultimate overconsumption holiday: Black Friday. In an effort to combat this, circular economy promoters are pushing back with Purpose Disruptors launching a large-scale campaign challenging the consumerism culture, Keep Britain Tidy promoting its ‘Buy Nothing New’ month, and the Association Green Friday initiative launching its latest campaign aiming to unveil the true cost of these sales.
It’s been another busy month for textiles in Ireland, as Circle Economy published Ireland’s Circular Textiles Report, second hand platform Vinted expanded into the country, and Irish second hand selling platform, Thriftify, announced its AI-powered relaunch.
Internationally, as COP29 came to an end in Baku, a student in the UK crafted a kettle repairable by anyone, the Ellen MacArthur Foundation launched its Marketing Playbook for the Circular Economy, and a new kind of ‘fast fashion’ has hit London, with the introduction of a clothing rental service to Deliveroo!
