Welcome to the last Circular Economy Newsletter of 2024!

As we close out the year, this edition of Circular Economy News celebrates inspiring stories and innovative projects advancing the circular economy in Ireland and around the globe. From repair and reuse initiatives to ground-breaking research and policy developments, it’s all about creativity and committing to circularity this Christmas.

In Ireland, we’ve seen many festive efforts to reduce waste, including upcycled decoration competitions, preloved toy swaps, and the Rediscovery Centre’s Circular Christmas Guide. We are also celebrating milestones like the Toy Library hitting 1,000 users, Rediscovery Centre’s 20th anniversary, and the Circular Economy award-winning Relove Fashion competition. On the policy front, reports from the EPA offer actionable insights to tackling food waste and meeting circular economy targets.

Globally, we’ve seen innovative solutions like circular tennis balls, an exhibition of hundreds of repaired socks, and reusable pizza packaging, alongside the recently published textile reports, and the stalling of the Plastic Treaty negotiations.
