Adam Boland
Research Officer
Meet Adam, Research Officer with the Rediscovery Centre since 2023!
As Research Officer, Adam keeps the team up to date on circular research, works across the areas of circularity metrics, insurance and supply chains, and is currently exploring the barriers and enablers to Ireland’s transition to a circular economy. Adam has led an EPA funded project investigating insurance barriers to community repair activities, and a wide range of other research projects, policy consultations, events, and communications.
Adam graduated from UCD in 2017 with a BA in Philosophy. During his time in UCD, he was the science editor of the College Tribune, where he guided the paper to place a greater emphasis on environmental issues. He went on to complete an MSc in Climate Change: Policy, Media and Society from DCU in 2020, which led to a position as a research assistant with DCU’s Sustainability Office. During his 2 years with DCU, Adam worked with the Grain-4-Lab project to investigate the behavioural and systemic barriers to laboratory sustainability, with a particular focus on plastic laboratory consumables.
Adam is an avid music lover who spends most of his free time writing and recording folk songs. He has released 2 studio albums with his band ‘Himalaya’ and is currently working on his second solo album, which deals with the themes of intergenerational justice and climate change! When he is not making music, Adam can be found watching old sci-fi movies or sewing.
