Jack McCarthy
Head of Research
Meet Jack McCarthy, Rediscovery Centre’s research officer since March 2022. Jack works on a variety of translational research projects and, at the moment, this includes leading an EPA-funded study on Ireland’s circular materiality usage rate, coordinating the national Paint Reuse Network, and developing new research projects, collaborations and funding opportunities.
Jack’s background is in human geography research. In 2020 he completed a PhD through UCD School of Geography and the Teagasc Walsh Scholarship Programme on farmer engagement with agri-environment schemes, and worked as a post-doctoral researcher before taking up his current position. Jack believes the transition to a circular economy needs to not only be technically sound, but socially just, two values that motivate his work at Rediscovery Centre.
In his spare time Jack enjoys parenting and playing music.
