Nessa Doran O’Reilly
Rediscover Furniture Programme Manager
Meet Nessa Doran O’Reilly, Rediscover Furniture Programme Manager with the Rediscovery Centre since 2021.
Nessa is responsible for managing, training and upskilling the Rediscover Furniture Team, who use their talents to repair, repurpose, and upcycle furniture. Nessa also leads restoration workshops, teaching people the skills needed to upholster, repair, and maintain their loved furniture. Nessa’s favourite thing about the Rediscovery Centre is the opportunity to save beautiful furniture from landfill.
Nessa holds a BA in Furniture Design and Technology in Dublin, as well as two Master degrees from Buckinghamshire New University’s High Wycombe, in both Furniture Design and Conservation Restoration of Furniture and Decorative Arts. Throughout her career she has been a presenter and upcycling expert on Channel 4’s ‘Goks Fill Your House For Free’, ‘Phil Spencer’s Perfect Home’, and BBC’s Flipping Profit, and has exhibited her craftworks around the world.
Nessa also runs an award-winning company with her partner, designing and creating contemporary, functional furniture and homewares utilising locally sourced, Irish materials. Sam Agus Nessa finds inspiration from industrial Dublin to the rural, Wild Atlantic Way and the beautiful Ancient East! Nessa loves Irish history, folklore, and traditional crafts, and in her spare time enjoys experimenting with recipes and exploring Kildare with her family.
