Sarah Zimmerman

Meet Sarah Zimmerman, research officer at the Rediscovery Centre since early 2023.
Sarah has been working on a variety of translational research projects, from guidelines for a food rescue café to bioeconomy projects. Sarah has a particular interest in biodiversity policy, nature-based solutions and the circular bioeconomy.
Sarah completed a PhD inTrinity College Dublin, where she worked for five years as a postdoctoral researcher on an inter-disciplinary wetland conservation project. She completed wetland projects for the Environmental Protection Agency and National Parks & Wildlife Services as a freelance researcher. Sarah has also worked with Natural Capital Ireland to highlight the many values of nature and our dependence on ecosystem services.
Sarah is Secretary of Balbriggan Sustainable Energy Community CLG and volunteers with Balbriggan Tidy Towns on climate and biodiversity related projects. In her spare time she enjoys hiking, pilates and spending time with family and friends in Ireland and Germany.
